10 Minutes (2017)
"'10 Minutes'—the title says it all. It marks the exact duration of each of the six tracks on this album.
Is it Ambient music? Probably.
But honestly, I think the truth is that I simply wanted to create a 'proper' electronic album, one with zero commercial filters. For me, there is something truly wonderful—almost spiritual—about studying sound as a raw material. I find a unique sense of wonder in experimenting with noise, textures, and the various 'stations' of my setup.
There’s a hidden beauty in the way musical timbres collide with environmental sounds or pure noise.
I’ve been told it’s a 'difficult' listen, and I totally get that. It’s not meant to be easy.
But people have also told me that these are pieces you can get lost in, provided you have the patience to let them breathe and reveal their depth. That immersion is exactly what I was aiming for, beyond the pure joy of playing a genre that I’ve loved and listened to since I was a kid.
Although it was officially released in 2017, these tracks were actually composed between 2005 and 2006. I have a very special memory tied to this era: the multimedia performance of my track 'Ricordati lo Zio Augusto, lo Sfortunato Inventore.'
I performed it live alongside my friend and legendary musician Enrico Cosimi at the University of Rome La Sapienza (Tor Vergata) on January 25, 2006.
This album is essentially the result of those hours spent lost in sound, just seeing how far the experiment could go."
"'10 Minutes' non è solo un titolo, è una regola: la durata esatta di ognuna delle sei tracce che compongono questo album.
È musica Ambient? Probabilmente sì.
Ma se devo essere sincero, quello che volevo davvero era creare un disco di musica elettronica 'pura', slegata da qualsiasi logica commerciale o di facile ascolto. Per me, c’è qualcosa di assolutamente meraviglioso e quasi magico nello studio della materia sonora. Mi perdo letteralmente a esplorare il suono, i rumori, le consistenze che nascono manipolando le diverse 'stazioni' di sintesi e sperimentazione.
C’è una bellezza incredibile nel modo in cui un timbro musicale si fonde con un ambiente sonoro o con un disturbo casuale.
Mi hanno detto che è un ascolto difficile, e lo capisco perfettamente. Non è un disco da sottofondo.
Ma mi è stato anche detto che sono pezzi in cui, se hai la pazienza di abbandonarti, puoi davvero perderti e apprezzarne la profondità. Ed è esattamente questo il risultato che cercavo: creare un’esperienza immersiva, oltre al piacere personale di cimentarmi in un genere che amo e ascolto fin da quando ero bambino.
Anche se l’album è stato pubblicato ufficialmente nel 2017, i brani hanno radici profonde: sono stati composti tra il 2005 e il 2006. Un ricordo a cui tengo molto legato a questo lavoro è la performance multimediale della traccia 'Ricordati lo Zio Augusto, lo Sfortunato Inventore', che ho eseguito dal vivo insieme al mio caro amico e immenso musicista Enrico Cosimi all’auditorium dell’Università di Tor Vergata a Roma, nel gennaio del 2006.
Questo album è essenzialmente il risultato di quelle ore trascorse persi nel suono, solo per vedere quanto lontano poteva spingersi questo esperimento."
